Cathode Optimizing Solution is a solution which is added to chlor-alkali membrane cell cathode chambers during electrolysis. Upon addition, the solution immediately begins to catalyze surfaces which are capable of evolving hydrogen gas.
- Surfaces which were previously catalyzed are renewed.
- Surfaces which were previously catalyzed but have become fouled are refreshed.
- Surfaces which were previously un-catalyzed are catalyzed and begin evolving hydrogen.

COS works on all cell designs and technologies such as Asahi Kasei, UHDE, De Nora, Lurgi, Chlorine Engineers, ELTECH, Bluestar, etc. Caustic purity is unaffected and Return on Investment (ROI) is high, i.e. COS solution pays for itself quickly and frequently.
